The Society of Medical Physicists in the Republic of the Philippines, Inc. (SMPRP) is thrilled to invite you to this 2024 celebration of the International Day of Medical Physics. This year’s theme emphasizes the importance of inspiring young minds to continue the legacy of innovation and scientific advancement in the field of Medical Physics.
About the event
This year we are honoring the invaluable contributions of medical physicists to medicine and healthcare through a two-day event featuring the SMPRP Medical Physics monthly webinar, a set of live lectures and an interactive workshop at our partner institutions, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) - Graduate School and the University of the Philippines - Philippines General Hospital (UP - PGH).
November 7, 2024 Morning Session - Featuring SMPRP Medical Physics Monthly Live Webinar. This brand-new episode will feature two engaging talks by renowned experts in the field of Radiation Oncology Medical Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physics.
Dr. Derek E. Hyde, a senior medical physicist and radiation safety officer at the British Columbia Cancer Agency – Kelowna, Canada will delve into the physics of stereotactic ablative radiation therapy, while Mr. Jae L. Inamarga, medical physicist & radiation protection officer at the Makati Medical Center, Philippines, will give us insights on how to put up a nuclear medicine & PET/CT center.
This live webinar is open to all medical physicists, medical physics students and other professionals. Certificate of participation will also be provided to those who have successfully registered and completed the webinar.
November 7, 2024 Afternoon Session – A set of live lectures on various topics in diagnostic radiology medical physics which will be held at our partner institution, the University of Santo Tomas (UST) – The Graduate School. Our guest speakers, Mr. Erik Wikström and Ms. Kristina Maaño, will give us exhilarating talks on new technologies and instrument for radiation quality assurance in diagnostic radiology, a deep-dive on computed tomography performance metrics measurements, scatter and leakage radiation measurements, and quality assurance software solution.
This live lecture is open to all medical physicists, medical physics students and other professionals. Certificate of participation will also be provided to those who have successfully registered and completed this live lecture.
November 8, 2024 Session (50 SLOTS ONLY) – Pre-workshop live lectures on diagnostic radiology medical physics quality control, which will be held at our partner institution, University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital (UP–PGH). This session will provide a pre-workshop lecture highlighting the latest QA innovations in diagnostic radiology and practical insights on medical physics in imaging which will be open to first 50 medical physicists and medical physics students who will register.
This will be followed by an interactive and hands-on workshop on performance metrics measurements for Computed Tomography and Mammography featuring RTI quality control solution, in the afternoon, to be attended by pre-selected practicing diagnostic radiology medical physicists currently enrolled in the SMPRP Medical Physics Residency Program.
