Design, Construction, and Dosimetry of 3D Printed Heterogeneous Phantoms for Synchrotron Brain Cancer Radiation Therapy Quality Assurance

The SMPRP Physics Monthly webinar series launched on August 19, 2024, at 7 PM, marking a significant step in disseminating knowledge in the fields of Radiation Oncology, Diagnostic Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine Medical Physics.

The inaugural event featured Mr. John Paul O. Bustillo, an Assistant Professor of Physics and Medical Physicist at the University of the Philippines - Manila, who presented his latest research titled "Design, Construction, and Dosimetry of 3D Printed Heterogeneous Phantoms for Synchrotron Brain Cancer Radiation Therapy Quality Assurance." Mr. Bustillo, a PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong Australia's Center for Medical Radiation Physics, shared insights from his research, which focuses on synchrotron imaging and radiotherapy, intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) quality assurance, and advancements in phantom fabrication and bioprinting.

The event was hosted by Ms. Merry Jaine T. Ortillo, a Health Physicist III at Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital, and moderated by Mr. Elrick T. Inocencio, a Health Physicist III at the Philippine General Hospital. This monthly series aims to highlight the latest advancements and research in medical physics, fostering a community of professionals committed to improving patient care through innovation and collaboration.
